North Beach Noodle Festival Brings Road Closure to Grant Ave
Just recently I was privileged to attend the 2010 Noodle Festival in North Beach
The reports on the 2010 Noodle Festival in North Beach, which closed a portion of Grant Ave to vehicles and opened it for people on Sunday. From the photos on
Streetsblog and the video below it was obviously a hit with San Franciscans. With the popularity of Sunday Streets and the obvious success of even small closures, such as the one for Noodle Festival, it raises the question of when will San Francisco look to create a pedestrian promenade?
The streetsblog discusses a pedestrian only street in Hong Kong, but there are many throughout the world. On a trip to Santiago Chile last winter I took the photo below.
With very few examples of great pedestrian streets in the North America, Grant Ave in San Francisco would be a great candidate.
