How to green a rental

As a renter I often wonder how I can make my home a little bit more green (apart from the worms, recycling, local foods, and reducing my consumption). Plus, my work doesn’t own our building, so I’m a tenant at work too. While our local “green team” makes efforts to reduce our impacts in the office (such as switching to biodegradable soap in the kitchen), I wonder if there is more that can be done.

The City of Portland has released a Tenant Improvement Guide that addresses some of these issues. While this is geared for businesses, there are helpful pieces for home renters. Does anyone else have green improvements that renters can implement (at work or home)?
